Silence. Solitude. Awe. Those words
capture this painting for me. The
inspiration for this piece came from a
drive down route 15  in southern
Loudoun County, VA (my photo shown
below). What interested me the most
was the burst of light, and the
peacefulness of the rolling hills. Many
who have seen the original painting
comment that they are surprised that it's
a watercolor because it looks so velvety.
I attribute that to the paper.
Unfortunately, the shimmering gold that I
added into the foreground and middle
ground doesn't show through in this
digital reproduction.
