This is one of my latest paintings, inspired
by my frequent trips to beautiful Meadowlark
Gardens in Vienna, VA. It is my first
completed painting on Clayboard Smooth by
Ampersand. It was a completely different
experience from painting on paper because
the paint didn't soak in nearly as much,
making it very easy to lift off the highlights,
and the colors stayed really vibrant. I've
always liked how my paints look in the mixing
area of my palette; now I have a painting
surface that mimics it. I'm looking forward to
making larger works on this unique surface.
