This painting is one of several that I have painted of a 33 ft tall
hallow metal cross called Crux Gloria, designed and sculpted by
Virginia artist Tomas Fernandez.
Crux Gloria, a cross of Iight, was commissioned by Saint Francis de
Sales Catholic Church in Purcellville, VA. This crucifix spoke to my
heart when I first saw it in 1996, and I've been painting it ever since.
For me, the figure carved out of the metal invites us to see Christ
crucified, risen, and present.
