Joanie has been taking watercolor
classes and workshops with me
since 2003. I am so proud to be
sharing her beautifully rendered
work with you this month.
Why did you choose to study
watercolor? "I love watercolor
because you have to surrender to
having total control. It feels
humbling to me and also exciting
because you never know what
happy accidents will occur. Looking
at watercolor paintings is so
satisfying for me - the freshness
and diversity is always there. Being
able to create some part of that, at
times, is thrilling. I also love the
challenge of it."
What do you enjoy painting most?
"I like to paint anything in nature -
especially flowers. My next
challenge will be to include some
people, even if it is just the
suggestion of a person."
What keeps you coming to "Time
to Paint" every month? " I always
enjoy the painting classes and do
anything not to miss one. The
camaraderie with my fellow artists
is something I look forward to each
time we meet. I have been taking
classes for about 5 years and am
still always learning something
new."
